My birthday is one week away and, despite my current life situation, I am pretty excited for it. Marie and I are spending this Saturday in Sacramento, away from the family, for our first real alone time in a few months, to celebrate early.
We are getting to town relatively early as Marie has a dentist appointment. While she is getting her teeth done I will be going and getting some of Amelia’s wall decorations from storage as she has mentioned she misses our apartment a lot. I know sort of where it is, but I hope it’s not too buried under all our stuff.
After that we’re going to chill around a bit and maybe get some drinks. I will likely be the one drinking since she’ll have to wait a bit to eat or drink after her appointment. In the later afternoon we’re meeting up with my friend Jose and his wife to do an escape room. We’ve done one together before and had a blast. I am very very excited.
When all is said and done Marie and I will be going to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant that we absolutely love. Marie’s mom said she doesn’t mind if we come back late so I might try and convince Marie to go walk around a park or the Capital building with me. I just want to squeeze all I can out of the situation since it will be our first real date day in a months.
Beyond that the day went well. I played with Amelia a few times after I got home. We played walking tag in the foyer while I carried Emerson. From there we went upstairs and played “hold your breath.” It’s a simple game: you lay on your back, hold your hands on your chest, and see who can hold their breath the longest. It is funny listening to a five year old breathe through their noise loudly as they try and convince you they are actually holding their breath.
I showered and played video games afterwards. All things considered it was a really good day. I have something to look forward to, and I am continuing to adjust to the life I have been given. Finding joy and blessings is no longer a chore—it is a pleasure.
Love you Amelia, Marie, Emerson, mom, dad, sis, kitty
