Today was an absolutely phenomenal day. Where do I even begin? Maybe with the fact that it’s the start of fall, which is an amazing reality in and of itself.
Emerson had a rough night. I think he fell asleep around 10:30, but then was awoken near 12:00 am, which kept him up because he treated the sleep like a nap instead of a bed time. It was Marie and I taking turns with him off and on until like 3:30 in the morning. That being said I still slept great. No more pain in my shoulder, and woke up on my own, rather refreshed, around 8:00 in the morning.
I went and made pancakes for everyone. They weren’t as good as Marie’s dad’s, but they weren’t bad. I didn’t bake them like his but he taught me how to do buttermilk, which is apparently the only thing he changes about his recipe. In the end there was plenty to spare because I ended up making quite a bigger batch than I expected. Overcompensating for more family paid off, I suppose.
We left a bit late, but that’s ok. Marie made it to her dentist appointment on time, which gave me some freedom to go to storage. That unit is fucking packed with out stuff. I had to climb on furniture to reach some of the things we were wanting to get. In the end we only got about 60% of the things we intended to get. The reality is that it will be a full day activity to dig through all the stuff and find what we need.
After I finished at storage I went and got Marie, and then we went to where the escape room was going to be. It was right by a brewery so we had a couple beers and played darts. It was really really fun. I could’ve drank and played darts for hours more. But then it was time to do the escape room. It was Marie, me, Jose, and his wife Montoya.
We actually escaped this one! We were all stoked. From there we played mini golf in the little center everything was a part of, then went and ate at an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. I definitely got my money’s worth and was so so full.
Finally, we stopped at a Sonic on the way home and I got a slush. It was truly the best birthday celebration I’ve had in a long time. I’ve loved every moment and celebration with my children, but the fact that Marie had basically as all day date was truly fantastic. We were really needing that.
Love you Marie, Amelia, Emerson, mom, dad, sis, kitty
