Marie and her family and Amelia all went to church today. Mass, technically. They’re not the most religious folks but they grew up catholic so they are trying to reclaim their roots I suppose. My mother in law has mentioned she’s reading a book of prayers which seems a bit redundant since the Bible exists for that. She says if she reads more than two pages she falls asleep. Go figure.
Emerson and I chilled this morning. We went and got Easter candy so the bunny could come while they were attending the service. I might have gotten too much candy but oh well. It’ll get eaten, there’s not much of a chance it’ll go bad, and a kid can never have enough candy on a holiday.
Marie’s dad made tri-tip for dinner. I cooked some green beans that turned out quite well. He also made a homemade carrot cake and it was really good. Not necessarily devine but better than the last one (an espresso cake) because it wasn’t so dense and the frosting (that he apologized about becoming a glaze at least four times) was sweeter.
The kids are playing in the tub now and we’re gonna watch a movie with the whole family tonight. It’ll be Ponyo and I’m excited to grow the Ghibli collection.
Happy Easter if you celebrate it. Happy Sunday if not.
