Rings

2/7/20

Marie lost her engagement ring. Technically she has (as of my writing this) lost two. I bought her two rings—an engagement, and a replacement for an older one—when I went out. She took them off last night to shower and forgot to put them on. When I awoke the silver one (the non-engagement ring) was in the sink bowl, but the gold one was missing, I was at work when Marie called. She had tore up the apartment looking.

She even called maintenance to come and check the sink drain. The took the whole tubing apart but couldn’t find anything. Then, after I came out from putting Amelia to sleep, she showed me she had lost the silver one.

I am more annoyed that she lost both in one day than I actually care about the rings being gone. I understand the significance & symbolism, but I proposed to her in Colorado, and I had forgot to bring the ring, so I technically didn’t propose with either ring.

It means a lot that she’s looking so hard, but I also want her to rest. My heart goes out to her because this hurts her more than it does me. However, ring or no ring our love will prevail. The symbol is in our actions, not our objects, and we have the power to decide that. Here’s hope to good luck, and finding gems.

I love my wife, daughter, sis, dad, mom, & cat
