It’s been about a year since I posted. A lot can happen in a year. A lot did happen in a year.

I stayed up late last night playing a game on my phone and thought about writing projects again. I’ve been writing creative pieces every week day for a couple weeks now. It feels good. I figure one other small, daily task wouldn’t hurt. It would at least get me on track to my goal of being a full-time professional writer.

Since this is basically a reintroduction post I’ll update as best as I can. August through December of last year went swell. We were tight financially but it was nothing new. Emerson was still so young and Amelia loved everything about her new brother.

In January we went on a vacation with Marie’s family to Florida. Her niece was celebrating her quinceañera. We also went to Disney World for a day. The party and Disney was awesome. What sucked was the red eye flight we took into the state. We had a layover in South Carolina and while we were there the FAA servers went down so our one hour layover turned into four.

And then, when we got to the airport, I went to pick up our rental car but couldn’t because I didn’t have a credit card. It took about 4-5 more hours to fix that out. Marie’s dad put it on his card but I had a breakdown when we went to buy the Disney tickets because if we had to pay him immediately we couldn’t afford to go. We only waited so long because he got a military discount.

When we got back to town we took Amelia out of daycare because it was too expensive. That helped save a ton of money. It also worked out in our favor because she got accepted to the public school down the road.

And then, in late May, I got called into the office and fired out of the blue. They claimed I was committing time theft when, in reality, I had talked to my manager about it in the past. My mom, and Marie’s dad, and I think they had been gunning at me for a while and took the first opportunity they could.

That sent our life into a tailspin. So much so that we had to break our lease early, put most everything into storage, then move in with Marie’s parents. We put the lease cancellation notice in only a few days after I got fired. We had to act quick otherwise we would have been charged all of July no matter what day we left in June.

We officially moved in with her parents the night of June 30th. Two weeks prior I drove ten hours one day, and ten hours the next, to drop our cat off with my parents in Salk Lake City, Utah, since Marie’s parents said we couldn’t bring him. And then, only five days after we moved in, we went on an already planned and paid for vacation to visit my parents because my old, best friend was getting married in our home state.

I got a job before we moved out and the change has been nice. It meant a $14k/year pay cut, but that is better than nothing. And at least now I like my job.

I think that’s enough of an update for now. Thank you for tuning back in.

Love you kitty, mom, dad, sis, Marie, Amelia, Emerson
