Today was a lovely day. I woke up early, went back to sleep, and enjoyed waking up slow. I awoke in a way that felt natural. Black mold (non-toxic) grows in our bathroom because even though we pay $1400/month for rent our landlords can’t bother to install a fan to help with humidity. I cleaned it off myself with bleach diluted with water. The results were better than I expected.
After that I cooked breakfast, cleaned the apartment (& nearly got my right middle fingernail torn off), then sat down with Amelia. When the family & I were ready we went to the post office to mail my sister a white-noise machine, then the doctor for Marie’s tooth. The doctor’s was too busy for Marie so we all went to Funderland, a fake sounding but very real (& very cute) children’s amusement part. We had a blast.
It was the first time I had ever been to a theme part with Amelia. She cried when we had to get off of each ride (teacups & roller coaster excepted). Her favorite was the carousel. Its calliope filled me with an overwhelming urge to smile and breathe in the crisp, January air. I loved the faces on the plastic, merry-go-round horses, & how they’ll run forever & ever—or at least until the motor breaks.
Just like the rest of us.
I love my dad, mom, wife, daughter & sister like powdered sugar loves funnel cake.
