She’ll be Too Big

3-20-21

Today was the first time in a while since I had taken Amelia out on a hike/nature walk. We started to get in the habit of going every weekend since I work from home and don’t get out all that much. It was really nice. We went to a little loop about 30 minutes away from the apartment.

When she gets older I’d want to go on longer hikes that actually take some time, but she’s still little and has a relatively limited fuel tank in her. It’s roughly the same: she’s excited to be there, she runs and stays at a quick past for the first half, starts to drag, and then, inevitably, I usually carry her the last quarter to tenth of the way. I never mind all that much.

She is growing up so quick and sooner than I’d like there will be a day where she’s just too big to sit on my shoulders. The gym at our apartment complex opened up to private reservations so I think I might start going a couple times a week to start lifting weights again. By no means am I unhappy with my body, but I used to go to the gym pretty regularly through college, and it’s always been a good stress reliever.

I never feel motivated to do home workouts for too long. I think it’s the atmosphere. In a gym/fitness room my limited attention can be spent doing a circuit and then repeating. In the end I’m not trying to change the way I look, but just get a little more active. Too, it would be nice to able to hold Amelia for as long as possible, no matter how heavy she gets. They grow up so fast but that doesn’t mean we can’t grow with them.

Love you Amelia, Marie, sis, mom, dad, kitty
