Quaint how a shit day at work can be turned around with a make-shift fort and some dollar store candy.
Ended up working late on a Friday because of multiple reasons: Pushed myself to get closer to a quota for a better chance at a nice bonus, took on a more advanced file, and spent a little too long cleaning up some absolute garbage in another file.
I ended up working close to an hour over my normal time. Not the worst, really, but inconvenient at least. Makes it so we’re leaving the city late and getting back to the house even later, which I don’t particularly like all that much.
Also meant that my end of day routine was a little shot. I usually like to finish up, use the facilities, then walk to the nearby gas station for a cigarillo. Marie’s work is close enough to the Starbucks I’ve been sorta trapped in that I can go to the station and walk to her before she gets out.
But I knew I was late when she actually rolled up to the coffee shop to get me.
The drive home was fine. We got pizza for dinner which is my absolute favorite type of night because then we don’t have to worry all that much. Marie got dollar store candy in town because he parents had the idea to treat Amelia to a movie night since the newest little mermaid is finally out on streaming.
When we got home it was nearly 8:00 pm. We are, set the “fort” up (more like a little blanket cave) and then started the fun. We pretended it was a little movie theatre and Emerson and I were the ushers.
The movie itself was not much to write home about, so I won’t. But Amelia had a good time, and I enjoyed myself, and I was glad the idea came about. Truth be told I got a little annoyed during set up, but I think that’s just because I didn’t know what I wanted, only what I didn’t want.
Love you mom, dad, sis, kitty, Emerson, Amelia, Marie
