Where I Live
This one has murder most fucked up
Slug
3/5/20 Soft sickness—like a wilting flower still soaking up the sun—drips off of my body. My throat aches more than it has before so I now talk with a booming baritone. Any cough pinches at my vocal cords and reminds me I am (as of right now) limited. I have boundaries. My abilities are lockedContinue reading “Slug”
Slide Off
3/4/20 Staying home sick as an adult is like eating an apple: it can be nice, but for the most part you think of it as a chore. First of all there’s the responsibility of taking care of yourself: the hydration, the nutrition, the fighting off antibodies left and right like a lone warrior fightingContinue reading “Slide Off”
Consume
2/27/20 Meh. Just gotta write 250 words then type the shit, take a picture, & try to get it up in time for people to see it. And here’s the secret: (this is late). I try my hardest but everything goes to quickly sometimes. Will it always be like this, or has it always beenContinue reading “Consume”
Kind of Consistent
2/20/20 I started keeping a daily diary over a month ago—about one month, one day. As assumed, my life is no more different. Of course, I am writing every day, and this is my first non-school-related literary project that I have stuck with so consistently. I have found flexibility in a daily diary; I canContinue reading “Kind of Consistent”
21,915 Days
2/13/20 Today was my mom’s birthday. She turned 60. She’s over twice my age. That’s always weird to think about. At one point in my life she was 35 times my age. What an odd idea—age difference remaining the same, but age ratio changing greatly over a lifetime.
Stood Up
1/30/20 I did it! I went and did stand up at a place off broadway & 18th. I’ve been there before but tonight went really well! I got pretty solid laughs. It was soul fulfilling. An odd thing did happen: I tried to join in a group of people I kind of knew outside, butContinue reading “Stood Up”
1-23-20
1/23/20 On the way home I stopped at a nearby liquor store & bought a watermelon 4loko. I drank it while Marie ate & took pain medication. We laughed & talked on the way to get Amelia, but on the way home we started arguing which eventually led to a big fight. At one pointContinue reading “1-23-20”
